Quest Diagnostics is consolidating operations from two labs to one, closing its Pennsylvania lab, and laying off 121 employees. Drug testing services will now operate solely out of Kansas, which may impact processing times.


Bus Driver Charged in Student’s Rape Faces Prior Allegation

A Valley Stream Central High School District bus driver has been charged with raping a 16-year-old boy and it has come to light that he faced an allegation of sexually abusing a minor a decade earlier. The driver is awaiting trial on felony charges of second-degree kidnapping, third-degree rape, two counts of a third-degree criminal sex act, and endangering the welfare of a child.


Driver with a Record, Slams into Traffic, Company Owes $141 M

K&N Logging owes more than $141 million in damages after having been found guilty of hiring a driver with a history of criminal traffic violations. The driver slammed into stopped traffic at a high rate of speed, leaving a 5-year-old with a traumatic brain injury. The company is accused of “blindly” hiring a driver with “no application, no background check, no driving history check, no criminal history run.”

    New Legislation Bans Discrimination Based on Driver’s License Status 

    Starting January 1, 2025, California’s Senate Bill 1100 amends the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) to ban employers from requiring a driver’s license in job ads, applications, or other materials – unless the employer can meet two specific conditions.
